NASSS offers six exciting competition categories designed to showcase student excellence across the social sciences. Students can:

Compete individually in the Essay Competition across six disciplines (sociology, psychology, political science, philosophy, economics, and history/geography).

Demonstrate their argumentation skills in fast-paced Debate rounds on contemporary issues.

Test their broad knowledge in the team-based Bowl Competition featuring rapid-fire questions.

Exemplify leadership and democratic processes in the Parliamentary Procedure Competition which allows teams to demonstrate mastery of formal meeting management.

Create solutions in the Policy Pitch Competition where students develop and present innovative solutions to real-world problems in areas like education, criminal justice, and environmental policy.

Collaborate in Club-Wide Competitions that celebrate community engagement, civic advocacy, and exceptional event programming.

With scholarship opportunities ranging from $50 to $300 per award and the chance to compete at both regional and national levels, NASSS competitions provide meaningful recognition for academic achievement while developing critical thinking, research, communication, and leadership skills essential for future success.

How to Register:
NASSS hosts all of its tournaments on Tabroom.com. Please register your team on Tabroom to be able to enter students into events. Registration fees for students are $2 per competitor. Students may enter as many events as they like, but we recommend students do not register for events in the same pattern to avoid scheduling conflicts. Also, please keep in mind that students do not have to be present in any rounds or rooms for the Essay Competition. Students may receive an award at the competition after their essay submission online.

Divisions:
NASSS is divided between middle school and high school level events. All rules and offerings are the same, but middle school students will never be judged against high school students and vice versa. All awards have a middle and high school component and are not combined.
