Competition Overview
What it is: Structured argumentation on contemporary social issues. Skills developed: Public speaking, research, quick thinking, persuasion. Format: Individual speakers with cross-examination rounds. Structure: Preliminary rounds, elimination rounds leading to finals.
Competition Structure
Preliminary Rounds: 2 rounds (every participant debates twice)

Topics drawn 30 minutes before debate begins
Elimination Rounds: Based on preliminary performance

If there are 12 or less competitors the competition will jump to the next available round

If there is an odd number of competitors, one team will randomly get a bye in which their previous or next round’s score will be duplicated
