Beginner's Guide to Getting Started
For Schools and Advisors
-
Recruit Members: Identify interested students across all grade levels (6-12)
-
Chapter Registration: Register your school chapter with NASSS through the registration portal in your account. Please note that all non-registered students who wish to compete must pay an extra fee when signing up for tournaments. If you have both middle and high school students interested, then they must have separate chapters
-
Plan Activities: Organize both competitive preparation and community service projects
-
Support Students: Provide guidance for research, writing, and presentation skills
-
Attend Conferences: Accompany students to regional and national competitions. Sign up for tournaments through the calendar page.
For Students
-
Find or Start a Chapter: Check if your school has a NASSS chapter, work with a teacher to establish one, or register as a non-chapter affiliated NASSS member.
-
Choose Your Interests: Explore the six competition categories to find your passion
-
Prepare and Practice: Use study materials and participate in chapter activities
-
Compete and Learn: Enter competitions at regional and potentially national levels
Location Matters!
Before you register as a chapter or competitor, check what Region you're located in. Every U.S. state is divided into 6 NASSS Regions. Currently, NASSS only operates in Florida Regions due to our establishment earlier this year. However, if you are located outside of Florida PLEASE contact us so that we can make accommodations and help you along on your NASSS journey.
